On 1st April 2025, Lourdes College of Nursing conducted the first session of its Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Empowering Nursing Education through Strategic Vision”. The session was designed to inspire and equip nursing educators with modern teaching strategies to enhance classroom engagement and effectiveness.
The resource person for the session was Fr. Jolly Odathakal, former Head of the Department of Social Work, St. Albert’s College, Ernakulam. Fr. Jolly shared profound insights into various educational theories that can be applied to redesign classroom teaching in innovative and engaging ways, especially relevant in today’s rapidly evolving academic environment.
Through a mix of interactive activities, group games, and thought-provoking discussions, Fr. Jolly made the session lively and impactful. He emphasized the importance of adapting teaching methods to meet the needs and expectations of modern learners, encouraging faculty to reflect on their teaching styles and explore new approaches for continuous improvement.
The session was highly appreciated by all faculty members for its relevance, interactive format, and the practical tools it provided to make nursing education more dynamic and student-centered.This initiative marks a promising start to a series of developmental sessions aimed at strengthening the teaching-learning process at Lourdes College of Nursing.
